Matthews gave his speech, taking the opportunity to dedicate the award to his father Brian a few days after Fathers’ Day. The last award to be announced was the Hart Memorial Trophy and Maple Leafs star forward Auston Matthews got up on stage for the second time that evening, accepting both the award as the league’s most valuable player and the Ted Lindsay Award for most outstanding player as voted on by his peers. The Emmy-award winning actor and comedian returned and, while the show remains an uneventful and bland ceremony, Thompson ended it with a bang that had to hurt the Toronto Maple Leafs and their fanbase. Thank you.Comedian Kenan Thompson hosted the NHL Awards show for the second-straight time, entertaining guests and taking a parting shot at the Toronto Maple Leafs as the show wrapped up. I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and Penguin Random House Canada in exchange for an honest and unbiased review. A wonderful book for the 100th anniversary of the Toronto Maple Leafs. I am going to buy my husband one as a stocking stuffer for Christmas so he can share it with our grandson. The illustrations were a cross between photographs and computer generated graphics that were colourful (a lot of blue and white) and detailed. The fun facts stumped my husband, an avid Leaf's fan. Obviously not every number from 1 to 100 is represented in this book, but there are several along the way coupled with Maple Leaf trivia. My husband and I had fun trying to answer the questions posed with the numbers. I am This is a great picture book for Maple Leaf fans.

This is a great picture book for Maple Leaf fans. I think a lot of Leafs fans will be grabbing this book to read to their children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews. Lots of bright colours -especially noticeable is the classic blue and white of the team - coupled with both a little rhyming verse about the number as well as an accompanying piece of trivia that directly relates to the number as well. This book is quite the celebration of all things Maple Leafs - all aimed specifically at young readers. I was probably expecting a little less than I got so I was quite taken with this book from the very first page. This book captures the spirit of "Canada's game." 1, 2, 3 Cheers for the Toronto Maple Leafs! is destined to become a classic that will be handed down from generation to generation. For children learning their numbers, it has never been this fun - whether it's Tim Horton's number SEVEN, Darryl Sittler's TEN points in one game, the Leafs' THIRTEEN Stanley Cups, Rick Vaive's FIFTY-goal year, or celebrating the Leafs' ONE HUNDRED years as a team. In 1, 2, 3 Cheers for the Toronto Maple Leafs!, Matt Napier and Melanie Rose take us on a tour of Maple Leafs history though vivid illustration and rhyming verse.
